Peter and the Wolf

Join the Zeitgeist Academy in our partnership with the Tualatin Valley Symphony as we celebrate their spring family concert!

The featured work is Peter and the Wolf, one of the world's most beloved musical stories.  While written for children, this piece is an incredible experience for music lovers of all ages!

Join Peter, a young boy, in his adventures in the meadow and the various animal friends he encounters there.  Each animal is represented by a different instrument or section in the orchestra.

In this class you'll get the chance to meet Peter (or at least the violin that plays him!), the Wolf (French Horn), the Cat (clarinet) and other characters!  You'll also learn why this piece was written and what makes it so beloved throughout the decades.

In addition, we'll learn about the other works in the concert, including the lovable but dangerous Ollie the Alligator.  We'll also learn about local composer (and TVS Concertmaster!) Andrew Poole Todd and his composition Foxbridge!

This class is designed for kids and adults alike!  We will have plenty of activities for all ages and maturity levels!

The concert is immediately following the class, and right across the street!  Tickets to the show are available at a group rate but not automatically included.

Why the symphony?

There are countless benefits to exposing kids to classical music.  But that doesn't end when we grow up!

Many people think classical music is "boring."  In reality, they don't understand what is going on--and it doesn't take much knowledge to make things WAY more interesting.

Peter and the Wolf is the perfect opportunity to get your kids excited about the symphony, or to create some excitement in yourself!

Understanding the sections and instruments in the orchestra will make any performance you see that much more inspiring!

Plus, music brings people together.  This show is uniquely accessible to all generations... and the class is designed to entertain, educate, and inspire grandkids, grandparents, and adults alike!

What people are saying...

"I went to the Tualatin symphony, and Morgan had a class beforehand.  She taught me some things I did not know about the symphony...It was very interesting, I felt like I learned a lot, and it made the symphony itself more enjoyable."

~Linda

"It was a wonderful segue into being prepared and knowing more information about the musical.  Thank you so much Morgan."

About the Zeitgeist Academy

Zeitgeist means "spirit of the times" and is an energy that pervades every culture and era! I created the Zeitgeist Academy to promote musical literacy and joyfulness for all. I am dedicated to creating healthy arts communities around the world.

A small amount of education goes a long way in creating a lasting joy and appreciation for a piece of music, and all my programs--from music reading to sea chanteys--are comprehensive and historically inclusive.

I am pleased to partner with the Tualatin Symphony for their 2017-2018 season.  Together, our hope is to bring incredible music to you, and give you the tools you need to truly enjoy it.

About Morgan Roe

Morgan Roe is a performer, teacher, speaker, and anthropologist. After conquering her own false beliefs about what makes a “successful” musical career and finding a her perfect musical journey, Morgan specializes in working with adults who want to make music by removing the stigma that music is an “inclination.”

Dipping into her anthropological training to understand the cultural forces that create music, she founded the Zeitgeist Academy to educate and support people at all stages of their musical journeys to understand that all music is relevant, and everyone can make it.
